I've always been a deere guy, and after having worked for CAT for a number of years and seeing how many of their skid steers came in broke down, I decided that I didn't want a CAT. I’m helping some friends manage their hunting properties and we had their cedar trees logged this year. The logger used a skid steer with over tire tracks to go into the woods and pickup bundles of 8’ cedar logs and get them out to their logging truck and load them.
When I was looking for a skid steer, I went out there and within an hour drove Cat, Kubota, Bobcat, Tak, Case & John Deere. I decided what I liked best and then waited until the right one came around. We're looking for a newer model used skid steer. Never owned one before but have ran a few Cats. What models and brands does everyone like? We want a mid size one that will lift at least a ton. Will probably get one with enclosed cab, two speed, and aux hydraulics. Heavily leaning toward a Cat 242- 256 2013 or newer. TIA I would never purchase a skid steer now with foot controls. Yes we did a little but the dealer did not impress my boss much. We have a takeuchi 180 and really wanted to try a smaller one but the dealer was absolutely useless.
