A regular skid steer would help me with some/few of the jobs better and also branch out into other work, eg more lot clearing, more heavy log loading, firesmart, etc.
My biggest issue with the mini skid is turf damage. We currently run the full size type skid loader asv rc50 green tracks which are awesome on the turf and pick up a heavy load, yet the minis I've seen pick up a fraction of the asv combined with turf damage I can't see myself to buying a mini unless it had smooth tracks like the asv.

Skid steer mounted tree spades are very effective. There are companies all over our area that transplant tree using these attachments. One companies has a fleet of 95XTs with 50" tree spades. These machines have the full counter weight kit (extra 1000 pounds), and rear stabilizers and steel tracks. They buy acreage and harvest the trees for resale. I just went and checked out their website. Some really nice looking products there. Articulating loader. Looks like an Avant 420 knock off. 3300lb capacity tracked mini skid. Too bad they don't have their shit together. We use an old gehl. an old Cat. and a brand new Tackehuchi for skid steers. I like all 3. Cat has the best parts availability system.
I work for a case dealership and I would not touch their skidsteers. They are pledged with electrical problems . If the decision was mine I would choose the Takeuchi line with the Kubota engine .
