Bobcat, I have 2 that I have used for going on 30 years Both are 975. I have never had to spend over 00 (except for a motor which was caused from running the machine upside down) for all repairs on eather machine. and both machines have over 10,000 hours on them. Hey guys (and maybe some gals on here), I'm in the market for a skid steer. Thanks for the input guys! I have a K budget. Looking to buy a used one obviously. I looked for a Kabuta skid steer, and found none used locally.. Only farm tractors.. I see everyone around here using Bobcat and Deere brand. I will look into Gehl. Also, what difference does the HP make? I see some at 45 hp while others at 75+ hp. My question is which CTL/skidsteer is the most stable on hill sides. It will also be used for general grading on a farm. To be specific it will want to be used to grade (not professionally), and run a brush cutter of about 72 inches on steep hills. To describe the hills better, a old jeep truck can climb them in 4x4 straight up. Seems to me you should be able to get a good used; mid-time(1200 - 2500) diesel powered skidloader like a New Holland 565/665 or Bobcat for - 00. Buying a gas powered one will be a mistake. Also suggest that you shop from a reputable dealer - that way you should be able to get a decent warranty and maybe some history info.
Deep down i want a 257, but they are pricey. I figure my best bet would be to buy a used 236, 242, or 246 and sell it at the end of the year. If i find a good deal on a used one, it almost seems like i could use it for the year and sell it for only 2-3 grand less then i paid for it. I'd like a machine with under 500 hrs and pay 20-25k for it. Users share their experiences and opinions on different brands and models of older skidsteers, such as New Holland, Bobcat, and Case.
