That way you can experiment with your exact situation until the correct settings have been determined. In general, I use the box blade with a long-adjusted top link to have the front blade barely off the ground and the back blade dragging the soil or gravel smooth.
Just finished a scraper for my skid steer to clean the farm yard. Was mostly made of scrap with some plates cut off my brothers CNC plasma. The rubber is off an old conveyor belt. Standard Box Blade does not have rippers, standard is a smooth cutting edge. Ratchet Rake is capable of tearing up sod with its serrated teeth, the initial operation in much grading. The Ratchet Rake will not pull as large a load as a Box Blade but it may pull 35% of capacity of BB1260 per pass, with faster cycles. No way would I try a Grouser skid steer blade on a tractor FEL. Most of the things I read, they are marginal for unbroken ground on a skid steer, much less on a tractor. Remember, it's a front end loader, not an excavator. For a tractor, I think the rear blade (scraper or box blade) would be the more appropriate attachment. Ken Hi. I live in Quebec north of Montreal, usually a lot of snow but this year not so much. Driveway is +- 400 feet long, and on the first wet snow of the year, I use my box blade (Bush hog 6 ft with a Massey 1643) , take it down and set it 1/2 in. higher so it will not get all the gravel with the snow, works like a dream, makes a nice uniform bottom when it freezes.
Both the blade and box come in handy but you'll find that the box is used most of the time and the blade will just sit there. I bet I haven't used my Gill scrape blade in 15 years. When moving any amount of dirt the box is much more efficient and takes less work to get the job done. Like you, I built burms on my property and did it with the box. But heck if the thing costs 3k you could do a few jobs to pay that off and decide if your machine can handle it or if you need to sell the scraper or buy a SkidSteer.
