What's what and what's interchangeable on the 3.9 in this skid-steer? Is this Case(cdc?) 3.9 engine the same as the very popular Cummins 4b engine? Are internals and accessories interchangeable? How many hours should the engine be good for? What are some warning signs to watch out for when inspecting it?

This 2004 came with the 115 hp Perkins, but in 2005 or 2006, Gehl used a 4.5 Cummins rated at 99hp, for emissions reasons I believe. The Case brand of skid steers relied heavily on the Cummins 4bt in many of their models and probably still does. Early models in the late '80's through the early 2000's had the 4bt 3.9 which most of us are familiar with. Here are several pictures of my current 3.9 pulled from the Ford that will likely go into the skid loader. Also included are some pictures of the skid loader with the Perkins stuffed into it.
