The Vermeer states that it can pick up 600 lb but finding that hard to believe being that the 450 TX can only pick up 500 lb and it's ,000 more. I can't seem to find any honest reviews on the ctx50. Vermeer is trying to get a hold of a CTX100 for me to look at. But the S800TX although smaller than the CTX100 the numbers on it compared to the MT85 are very impressive. So here is what I found. I have personally ran the vermeer 40 hp gas model tx800 and it is a nice machine, also have ran the ctx100 and that is beast mode 40 hp turbo diesel, and vertical lift. I'd take a 1500 model too. Looking to do some research and vermeer wants I am looking at a 2002 vermeer 1230 to purchase but when I went to my workshop for ISA Cert Arb. a few guys there had experience with it and didn't like the chipper because of the vertical feed wheels and that the big gap beside the movable wheel often got clogged with brush etc. Anybody currently using this chipper and have advice pros or cons .
I am really happy with my Vermeer SC1152. I've experienced exceptinal service from Vermeer, and I think its a quality built machine. Love the way it runs, drives like a tank, but it's easy on the grass. Gear box is easy to change oil on,(better than bearings, belts, and sprockets. I very happy. Two things and I highly recommend looking into this.
I've been running ours for over a year now. It has lots of hose routing issues. Make sure and purchase an extended warranty if available. Vermeer comped me a 2 year warranty because of issues from the get go. There is a factory update for a hydraulic valve, check with them to make sure its been done. Tracks have only come off once for us.
I've rebuilt a couple of drive motors on my vermeer s600. From what I saw on my motors, if your leaking externally it should be a o-ring or seal, or possibly one or two bolts on the motor have backed loose. Rebuilding is fairly easy, you can buy a kit to replace all essentials; or tear it down and find the torn component, sourced at a local store.
