I’ve been looking for years to find the right skid steer in good condition and my price range and find 3 in a week with few days to purchase . All skid steer attachments made nowdays use a universal coupler that works on all later model machines. Some older machines, like New Holland and very old Case machines, had unique couplers, newer machines are universal. I have an old JD90 skid steer and one of the hydraulic drive motors is dripping from the case. Constant drip in use and almost no drip while parked, but over the winter it will lose several gallons. It is a little skid steer but has done me well over the years. (I am not a big farm guy) Question is.

The 1740 was a strong machine and was pretty much bullet proof, but hard to work on. The Case 430 and 440 are the all time best wheeled skid steers ever made. They use Case/Iveco 445/m2 and 445t/m2 engines respectively. These engines are essentially a Cummins ISB 4.5 or QSB 4.5 block and rotating group fitted with an old fashioned mechanical injection system instead of a modern high pressure common rail system.

The next morning I went out, started it and cleared snow for a couple hours. I was really pleased with it's performance.
