I have a New Holland LS 160 skid steer. The parking brake no longer holds the machine back, I am assuming it simply needs adjustment. Can anyone offer me an instruction on how to do this. The parking brake on my 2005 LS170 (730 hours) completely failed the other day. The local NH dealer, who deals mainly with tractor repairs and only occasionally construction equipment, gave me a quote of 00-1400 for the brake repair. It is not your run of the mill brake location. You need to remove the rear wheels and drive housing. But you can check the linkage from the handle to where it runs into the chain boxes. The parking brake on my skid steer doesn't seem to keep the machine from moving anymore. I checked the manual and there is no mention of any adjustment that I could find. Is there a simple fix or does it involve a trip to the dealer?
