Howdy all. After doing my best not to, i would up with a 2005 JCB 190T. Machine only has 750 hrs, and has been mostly sitting the last couple of years. I have run the machine for 5 or 6 hours, seems to have good power, everything works pretty well as far as I can tell. I do have a couple of issues that I need to troubleshoot, hope someone can help. JCB parts, I've heard, can be difficult to obtain and can be spendy. I was never fond of the Robot uni-arm setup, just seemed kinda stupid. All that torque and abuse going to one side of the machine. Sure it's probably beefed up on that one side, but in no way is it a stiffer/better setup than a tradition skid steer. I have yet to see anyone that runs Volvo equipment, run the Volvo/JCB skid steer. Excavators and wheels loaders, artic trucks no problem, but I have yet to see them run the Volvo skid steer. The Volvo dealers, also don't seem to carry the skid steer, at least none around me. I gotta think there is a reason for that.
I hope to use this one day as i love my machines, and its a dream for me to own my part of the industry. Anyway, cutting to the chase, ive decided to go with a truck, trailer and a small(er) backhoe loader. I came down to this: a choice between the JCB 1CX and a Kubota R420 with a backhoe attachment. My problem is:i have no idea which one to pick.
JCB has been trying to make that work since the mid90's. I have yet to see a Volvo dealer carry the SSL/CTL machines (that they cobrand). Perhaps in other parts of the country they carry the JCB/Volvo SSL and CTL but I have yet to see one out West. No doubt they are safe, I will give them that.
